Turkey Re-Launches Airstrikes On PKK In Northern Iraq

The Turkish military on Tuesday said it had carried out renewed airstrikes on positions held by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Northern Iraq.
Security forces said several PKK hideouts were destroyed during an operation that was carried out on Monday in Iraq’s mountainous Kandil region, where the PKK has its headquarters.
The Turkish military has for months been carrying out a campaign against the banned Kurdish party in the South-East of Turkey.
Security forces are currently involved in clashes with PKK fighters in Nusaybin near the Syrian border and in the Turkish towns of Sirnak and Hakkari.
In Sirnak province’s Silopi region, a police officer was killed and four were injured during a PKK grenade attack
